The situation in the state of Texas is bad in the wake of exceptionally bad winter storms. Millions of people are without electricity at times.

There is also no drinking water in some places, because the water treatment plants are not working due to power outages. About seven million Texans have been ordered to boil tap water.

The subtropical state has had up to 20 degrees below zero.

Someone also saw humor in the matter.

In the midst of all this, State Republican Senator Ted Cruz decided to leave Cancun with his family for the Mexican sun.

- I want to be a good father, the senator argued when he was photographed at Houston airport.

- People are literally frozen to death and Ted Cruz decided to leave for Cancun, criticized Democrat MP Pramila Jayapal .

“Schools are closed in Texas and the kids wanted to leave,” Cruz said.
